What is an Avatar?

Introduction

An avatar is a small image that appears when you post to the forums and when you comment on any posts anywhere. It’s your profile picture. The avatar should be 128 * 128 pixels square. It will be smaller when used in comments so do check how good it looks when it shrinks.

On your profile you can upload any jpg, png, or gif image and it will let you crop and resize it to fit. After that your avatar will begin to appear next to your comments when you’re logged in. Comments with avatars tend to get read more.

Will it show up by my posts?

No, but it is just a regular image so you can link the URL just like any other image.

Can I delete my avatar?

You can’t delete your avatar, but you can always replace it. If you wanted you could even replace it with this blank avatar (Right-click and Save the image).
