Setting your default post / link category

To set your default post/link category, go to Settings -> Writing

When you create a post or a bookmark, unless you decide to choose different the post or bookmark, will be made into your default category.

So you only to need to mark a category if it will be different from the default.

If you want something in the default and a new category then you must mark both.
