Posting Photos from Flickr

Flickr is a leading, web-based photo management application which allows users to upload, organize and share their favorite photos. It takes care of your image resizing, allows you to tag your photos, and even enables notes and comments to be submitted on each photo by visitors. What’s more, with just a few clicks, you can post a photo from your Flickr account onto your WordPress.com blog. Here’s how:

1) Sign up for a free Flickr account – http://flickr.com/

2) Log on to your new account (integrated with Yahoo! accounts), click on the You menu option, and choose Your Account.

3) On your account page, click the Extending Flickr tab.

4) In the Your blogs area, click Configure your Flickr-to-blog settings.

5) From the drop down menu, select WordPress blog and click Next.

6) Enter the API Endpoint: http://yourblogname.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php, along with your WordPress.com account credentials. Click Next.

7) Confirm your details; click All DONE.

8) You’re all set! A link will be provided to create a custom posting template, but this is not necessary to post Flickr images to your blog.

Blogging Your Photos

When you want a blog a photo, look for the Blog This button right above it (you will need to click the photo first, if you are viewing a photostream). A menu will appear, reading Choose a blog below; select your desired blog.

Complete the post information, including the title (by default, this will be the image’s name) and content (if this is a photoblog, you will most likely leave the content section empty). Click Post Entry.

Now, you can view your blog to see your latest post – created without ever logging into your WordPress.com dashboard.

That’s all there is to it!

Well, actually, there is more to it than that. You can also post pictures to your WordPress.com blog by emailing them to Flickr. Log into your Flickr account and go to the Uploading By Email page to set it up.
